Who can learn to scuba dive?

Anyone from the age of 8 upwards can have a go in a swimming pool.   The first recreational scuba course you can take to give you a full diving certification is the Open Water Diver course, qualifying you to dive to 18 metres.  The only prerequisites for the course are that you are physically fit and can swim 200 metres unaided. 

The PADI Open Water Diver Course

This is the full, internationally recognized course certifying the diver to dive to a maximum depth of 18m/60ft. It requires 5 Classroom/Theoretical Training Modules, 5 Confined or Pool Diving Modules and 4 Open Water Dives. The student then completes the 4 required dives over 2 days.

The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course

After a student completes the PADI Open Water Diver Course he/she will want to get more training and experience in various specialty areas of diving. This course certifies the diver to a depth of 30m/100ft. It requires 5 dives consisting of 2 core dives 1 Deep Dive, 1 Navigation Dive and 3 others of the student's choice (Night Diving, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Naturalist, Underwater Photography, Multilevel and Computer , Search and Recovery, Boat, Dry Suit, etc.)

The PADI Rescue Diver Course

An Advanced Open Water Diver may join this course to learn self-rescue and accident prevention and management skills. The course includes classroom training pool training and open water practice in 12 rescue scenarios. A pre-requisite is the Emergency Response Course or a CPR certification.
